CareerFlora Expert Insight

The Indian apprenticeship ecosystem is undergoing a transformative phase with the extension of NAPS-2 till September 2026 and the implementation of Jan Vishwas Act amendments. With over 52 lakh apprentices already engaged, the government is focused on scaling apprenticeship uptake, particularly in MSMEs which represent 67% of registered establishments .

The MSDE is actively working to make apprenticeships more accessible and attractive for smaller enterprises, exploring models like Group Training Organizations (GTOs) and Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes (AEDP) . The special intervention for North-East, with a target of 30,000 apprentices and an additional ₹1,500 monthly incentive, demonstrates the government's commitment to inclusive growth .

For job seekers, apprenticeships offer a proven pathway to employment, combining "earn while you learn" with nationally recognized certification. Major recruiters like SBI, Bank of Baroda, ITDC, and MDL are actively hiring apprentices, making this an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and diploma holders.
