Global Youth Leadership Programme for Young Environmental Leaders
Introduction
The World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council 2026–2027 has officially opened applications for young environmental leaders aged 16–25 years from around the world.
Coordinated by The Ocean Project, the programme supports young people working in ocean conservation, climate action, and environmental advocacy while strengthening leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
The Ocean Project has coordinated global World Ocean Day since 2002 and works with organizations worldwide to promote ocean conservation, environmental education, and sustainable development.
The organization supports youth leadership and international collaboration through global conservation initiatives and environmental awareness programmes.
About Programme
Established in 2016, the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council brings together 20–25 young conservation leaders from countries around the world every year.
Participants collaborate throughout the programme to support World Ocean Day initiatives, strengthen leadership skills, and encourage greater public engagement in protecting the world's oceans.
The programme also promotes international collaboration on ocean conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
Today, the Youth Advisory Council Alumni Network includes 173 members representing 75 countries, creating a growing global community of environmental changemakers.
