The Middle East and Central Asia have recorded some of the single highest temperatures anywhere on Earth this year. Delhoran, Iran, reportedly hit 52.1°C on what trackers called the hottest day of 2026 globally, with parts of the wider Middle East reaching 53°C. Central Asia has seen its own extraordinary spike, with forecasts of temperatures near 48°C in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and 45°C in Kazakhstan — highly unusual for a region well north of the tropics, where even overnight lows have stayed above 32°C.


East Asia: A "Nightmarish" Stretch
