QDENGA is a live-attenuated tetravalent vaccine designed to protect against all four dengue virus serotypes (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4). India's drug regulator, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) , approved Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda's dengue vaccine. This marks India's first-ever dengue vaccine.
The approval comes at a critical time, as dengue cases have surged dramatically across the country. Over the past two decades, India has witnessed an 11-fold increase in dengue cases. India now bears nearly one-third of the global dengue burden.
